Notes from the Mountain - Issue No. 1
There are moments that stay with you.
Not because they were easy - but because something shifted while you were there.

Mt. Elbert, 2006 (14,440')
In 2006, we climbed our first 14,000-foot peak — Mt. Elbert. It wasn’t graceful. It wasn’t fast. But somewhere along that climb… everything got quiet. The kind of quiet you don’t find in everyday life.
And then we saw them. Mountain goats — moving effortlessly across terrain that had us stopping to catch our breath every few minutes.
Calm. Sure-footed. Completely at home in a place that felt overwhelming to us. I remember thinking… this is different. Not just the place, but the feeling of being in it.
That trip stayed with me. The air. The stillness. The clarity.
Years later, when Mountain Goat Soap Company came to life…that feeling was the standard. Not just making soap, but creating something that brings you back to places like that. Fresh air. Open space. A reset.
This brand was built on a simple idea:
- Make something real
- Make it well
- Make it feel like something worth coming back to
Over time, this has grown into more than I ever expected. It is a community of people who:
- care about what they use
- appreciate craftsmanship
- and maybe understand that pull toward the outdoors
If that sounds like you — you’re in the right place.
This is the beginning of Notes from the Mountain
A place where I’ll share:
- New releases before they launch
- The stories behind the scents
- A look behind the scenes
- And occasionally… moments like this one
Nothing excessive. Just something worth opening.

A small beginning...

A short reflection inspired by the outdoors.
“The higher you go, the quieter it gets, and the easier it is to hear what matters.”
