Blue Lakes - Breckenridge, Colorado
There are places you don’t notice right away. Not because they aren’t there, but because they’re hidden.
We drove up Peak 10 in Breckenridge, CO a few summers ago in our trusty Land Cruiser. The peak is at 13,433' and part of the Ten Mile Range. From up there, you can see them. Upper and Lower Blue Lakes, tucked into Monte Cristo Gulch, just south of the peak. Bright, almost unreal against everything around them.
But in the winter, you’d never know they were there. They disappear completely. Covered over by snow and ice, blending into the same white landscape as everything else. It’s the same place. You just have to come at the right time or know where to look.
I think a lot of things are like that.
Not obvious at first.
Not loud.
Not trying to stand out.
But when you find them, or notice them, they stay with you.

Blue Lakes was inspired by that kind of feeling. Clear, still water high above everything else. A kind of quiet you don’t really notice until you’re in it.
Blue lavender opens clean and calming, layered with palmarosa for a soft, green balance. Inspired by the color and clarity of alpine water, it's fresh, steady, and a little deeper than it first appears.
Not everything is meant to stand out right away.
Some things are better when you have to find them.

A short reflection inspired by the outdoors.
“Not everything worth noticing is easy to see.”
